Teaching Standards

Our Teaching Standards

At Bilingual Community School we adhere to the rigorous standards set by the Department of Education in the UK, and are subject to regular checks from the Education Ministry in Indonesia.

Our teachers undergo continuous internal professional development to stay updated with the best practices in education, and our ‘BCS Training Modules’ – our system of internal certification – ensure that standards are met consistently. We foster a supportive and collaborative environment, where teachers can share their expertise and learn from one another.

Every Year
  • Teachers attend a training week with internal and external trainers.
  • Teachers are given an end of year appraisal with specific goals set for the new academic year and specific help tailored to their individual career goals.
  • Our Senior Leadership Team tours schools following the U.K National Curriculum to gain ideas and inspiration.
Every Term
  • Teachers are formally observed by the Head Teacher based on UK teaching standards. This is followed by a feedback meeting, a list of specific teaching objectives for the coming term, and a review of their objectives and goals from the previous term.
Every Week
  • Teachers have a one-on-one meeting with the Head Teacher to check their Weekly Planner and ensure they are teaching according to the UK curriculum standards and our school values.
  • Teachers attend a whole school meeting to discuss the past and coming weeks.
  • Teachers attend internal teacher training after school.
  • The Senior Leadership Team holds a meeting to discuss standards and progress.
